For over 25 years, Antrova AG has been a leader in the development and optimisation of combustion and thermal turbo machinery in all sizes and configurations. Our expertise also extends to essential auxiliary components such as exhaust aftertreatment systems, coolers, turbochargers, and compressors – including the innovative and sophisticated COMPREX™ pressure wave supercharger system. The latter represents the pinnacle of boosting technology for combustion engines.

To develop forward-thinking solutions, we utilize state-of-the-art technologies such as CAD, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), and DoE (Design of Experiments). These tools enable us to design and simulate new concepts under realistic conditions. Our many years of experience with these methods, along with test bench operation, are key to avoiding misinterpretations and costly iterations.

Automotive sector – Downsizing and turbocharger optimization

The current focus of the automotive division lies on projects involving small gasoline engines equipped with turbocharging technology, commonly referred to as "downsizing powertrains." The adaptation and optimization of turbochargers for these engines (turbocharger matching) is a routine task that Antrova executes with the highest level of precision. To achieve this, Antrova's engineers are proficient in the following disciplines:

Simulations

We perform comprehensive vehicle simulations – both for conventional powertrains and electrified vehicles – using advanced software tools such as GT Suite (Gamma Technologies) and AVL Suite. In addition, we simulate internal combustion engines, gas exchange processes, and fluid flows, including coolant and hot gas behavior within turbocharger turbine housings.

Concept and design

We develop advanced downsizing projects that involve the use of turbochargers or the pressure wave supercharger.

Charger calibration

Our engineers optimize the boosting systems with respect to low fuel consumption, thermal load on components, and high power density (>110 kW per liter of displacement). This also includes the development of drive electric motors for pressure wave superchargers.

Design and Engineering

We design water-cooled housings for boosting devices (hot side) as well as specialized components such as cast parts for combustion engines and housings or rotors for turbochargers and pressure wave superchargers.
